Hadith No: 73
From: 110 Hadith Qudsi. Chapter 1, 110 Ahadith Qudsi (Sacred Hadith)
Narrated/Authority of Ibn Masud
The Prophet (SAW) said: Our Lord (SWT) wonders at two men: One is he who got out of his bed and quitted from among his family and tribesmen to perform prayers. Our Lord says: 0 My angels! Look at this slave of Mine who got up from his bed and quitted from among his tribesmen to offer prayers desiring what is available with Me and fearing what is with Me. Second is he who fought in Allah's cause and got defeated along with his fellow fighters. But he knew what punishment he will suffer in case of fleeing from the battlefield and what reward he will get in returning to the battlefield. So he returned (and fought against Allah's enemies) until he was killed desiring what is with Me and awing from what is with Me. Allah (SWT) says to his angels (wonderingly): Look at My slave who returned (to the battlefield) hoping for what is with Me and fearing what is with Me until his blood was shed. (This Hadith is good and reported by Ahmad, Abu Daud, Ibn Hibban and AI-Hakim).

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 29, Penalty of Hunting while on Pilgrimage
Narrated/Authority of Abdullah bin Abi Qatada
That his father had told him that Allah's Apostle set out for Hajj and so did his companions. He sent a batch of his companions by another route and Abu Qatada was one of them. The Prophet said to them, "Proceed along the sea-shore till we meet all together." So, they took the route of the sea-shore, and when they started all of them assumed Ihram except Abu Qatada. While they were proceeding on, his companions saw a group of onagers. Abu Qatada chased the onagers and attacked and wounded a she-onager. They got down and ate some of its meat and said to each other: "How do we eat the meat of the game while we are in a state of Ihram?" So, we (they) carried the rest of the she-onager's meat, and when they met Allah's Apostle they asked, saying, "O Allah's Apostle! We assumed Ihram with the exception of Abu Qatada and we saw (a group) of onagers. Abu Qatada attacked them and wounded a she-onager from them. Then we got down and ate from its meat. Later, we said, (to each other), 'How do we eat the meat of the game and we are in a state of Ihram?' So, we carried the rest of its meat. The Prophet asked, "Did anyone of you order Abu Qatada to attack it or point at it?" They replied in the negative. He said, "Then eat what is left of its meat."

Direct us to an act which we should ourselves perform and invite those who live beside us. Upon this the Prophet remarked: I command you to do four things and prohibit you against four acts. (The four deeds which you are commanded to do are): Faith in Allah, and then he explained it for them and said: Testifying the fact. that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, performance of prayer, payment of Zakat, that you pay Khums (one-fifth) of the booty fallen to your lot, and I prohibit you to use round gourd, wine jars, wooden pots or skins for wine. From: 110 Hadith Qudsi. Chapter 1, 110 Ahadith Qudsi (Sacred Hadith)
Narrated/Authority of Abu Said Al-Khudri
He quoted Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as saying to his Companions that: a man from among the early people or from those before you had said a word, i.e. Allah had blessed him with wealth and sons. When death approached him, he asked his sons: How was I being as a father? They replied: You were the best father. He said: I didn't save or perform any good deeds for Allah. If Allah takes possession of me, He will punish me. So, look! when I am dead, burn me until I become coal then crush me well and scatter (my ashes in the air) on a stormy day. The Prophet (SAW) said: He took a covenant from his sons (and died). They did according to his will and spread his ashes in the air on a stormy day. Allah (SWT) said: Be and there he was embodied before Him. Allah, the Exalted, asked him: my slave! what induced you to do what you did. He replied: It was Your fear (so that I may not appear before You). The Prophet (SAW) added: Allah, the Exalted rewarded him with His Mercy; the Prophet (SAW) said second time: Allah did not punish him. (This Hadith is sound and reported by Bukhari and Muslim).

This tradition has been transmitted through another chain of narrators on the authority of Aishah. Abu Dawud said: Yahya b. Sa'id al-Qittan said to a person: Narrate these two traditions from me, that is to say, one tradition on the authority of al -A'mash from Habib (about kissing); another through the same chain about a woman who has a prolonged flow of blood and she is asked to perform ablution for every prayer. Yahya said: Narrate from me that both these traditions are weak in respect of their chains. Abu Dawud said: Al-Thawri is reported to have said: Habib narrated this tradition to us only on the authority of 'Urwat al-Muzani, that is, he did not narrate any tradition on the authority of 'Urwah b. al-Zubair. Abu Dawud said: Hamzah at-Zayyat reported a sound tradition on the authority of Habib. from 'Urwah b. al.Zubair from Aishah.

Narrated/Authority of Talha bin Ubaidullah
A bedouin with unkempt hair came to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards the prayers." He replied: "You have to offer perfectly the five compulsory prayers in a day and night (24 hours), unless you want to pray Nawafil." The bedouin further asked, "Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards fasting." He replied, "You have to fast during the whole month of Ramadan, unless you want to fast more as Nawafil." The bedouin further asked, "Tell me how much Zakat Allah has enjoined on me." Thus, Allah's Apostle informed him about all the rules (i.e. fundamentals) of Islam. The bedouin then said, "By Him Who has honored you, I will neither perform any Nawafil nor will I decrease what Allah has enjoined on me. Allah's Apostle said, "If he is saying the truth, he will succeed (or he will be granted Paradise)."

From: Sahih Bukhari. Chapter 33, Retiring to a Mosque for Remembrance of Allah (Itikaf)
Narrated/Authority of Amra bint Abdur Rahman
from Aisha, Allah's Apostle (SAW) used to practice Itikaf every year in the month of Ramadan. And after offering the morning prayer, he used to enter the place of his Itikaf. Aisha asked his permission to let her practice Itikaf and he allowed her, and so she pitched a tent in the mosque. When Hafsa heard of that, she also pitched a tent (for herself), and when Zainab heard of that, she too pitched another tent. When, in the morning, Allah's Apostle had finished the morning prayer, he saw four tents and asked, "What is this?" He was informed about it. He then said, "What made them do this? Is it righteousness? Remove the tents, for I do not want to see them." So, the tents were removed. The Prophet did not perform Itikaf that year in the month of Ramadan, but did it in the last ten days of Shawwal.
